Michelle's Bachelorette Party - Palm Springs 2009

I've been a little behind in my blogging lately.....too much going on in the Meyer household! The days and weeks just seem to be flying by and we are keeping very very busy.
We are all looking forward to another fun summer, full of lots of BBQ's, pool time and hanging out with our family and friends.

A few weeks ago, my future sister in law had her bachelorette party in Palm Springs and we had a blast! Jim's parents were nice enough to drive up to Sacramento to help Jim watch the kids, so that I could get some alone time. It was the first time I had left Olivia and the longest time I've been away from Cole. But man was I so excited!! I just needed a little break from these kiddos and our daily routine and this filled the spot. I flew down to Ontario on Friday and my sister, Kristen, and nephew, Alec, picked me up at the airport and then we drove to have lunch with my mom and drop Alec off with Grandma, so that my sister could also have some much needed R & R. Friday night was spent hanging out at the condo, drinking wine and hanging out with the girls. It was such a great group of girls and we all had a blast. I actually got to sleep in on Saturday, which was the first time in months, and then we headed out to the pool, where we had 2 cabanas reserved for us poolside, thanks to a very generous hostess and maid of honor! The weather was HOT, but thankfully we spent all day at the pool and kept the cocktails coming. Saturday night we got all dressed up and went for some dinner and dancing with the bachelorette! Look at how cute she looked and I know she is going to look beautiful on her wedding day! Thanks for inviting me to be in your wedding and for such a FUN weekend Michelle!!

Let's go camping!!!!!!!!

For Mother's day weekend we decided to try something new and take the family camping!! We went with the Cukjati's, one of the many great families in our negihborhood, and headed up to Rollins Lake in Colfax. We originally booked the trip for both Friday and Saturday night, but after remembering what a horrible sleeper Miss Olivia is when she is not in her crib, I decided 1 night would be enough for us this time around. So we packed the car up and took off Saturday morning, got everything all set up and then spent the day down at the lake. Cole had so much fun playing with his friend, Enrico and we had so much fun watching him. It was all about dirt, bugs, worms, sticks, fire and water! After spending the day in the sun down at the lake, we headed back to the campsite for cocktail hour, dinner and smores (and more dirt for Cole!). The night went pretty much as expected meaning all 4 of us ended up in the same bed with Olivia up crying most of the night, but overall we still had a great time. Jim woke up Sunday morning and made us a yummy Mother's Day breakfast of eggs, bacon, hashbrowns and bear claws! Overall, a great trip, but next time I think I will plan for another weekend so that on Mother's Day, I can RELAX!!!

All packed up and ready to go.....

A family outing to the zoo

Jim took a much needed Friday off from work last week and was able to join us on our trip to the Sacramento zoo with our playgroup. The weather was perfect and we had a fun day and I very much enjoyed having an extra set of hands to help me out while we were there. We spent about 2 hours looking at all of the animals (and yes that is all the time you need at this zoo. It's not exactly the San Diego Zoo) and then we enjoyed a nice lunch and got the kids home in time for a long nap.
We didn't get many pictures of the animals, but we did get a great family shot with everyone actually looking at the camera and smiling.

Cole's First Trip to the Dentist

Cole getting his x-rays

Wearing his "cool" shades" so the light doesn't hurt his eyes

Say cheese!!

Last week we took Cole to go see the Dentist for his very first time. He went to see Dr. Peterson in Rocklin, who also happens to be our neighbors Uncle. Given that the nightly tooth brushing routine is always a battle in our house, I was not looking forward to this visit. BUT, he ended up doing a great job and sat very still while they took x rays, cleaned all 20 teeth he currently has, as well as put vitamins on all his teeth. I bribed him with a lollipop at the end of the visit if he did well and the dentist also let him pick from the prize pack at the end of his exam (he picked a pink plastic dinosaur....go figure?) All in all, a great first visit and the dentist said his teeth actually look very clean for a 2 1/2 year old. Yeah Mom and Dad!

Fun after nap time

These days Cole waits to hear Olivia on the monitor and then heads upstairs to "wake her up" after her naps. He climbs in the crib, turns on her mobile and plays with his baby sister. He insists that I wait downstairs while he does this, but of course, I am two steps behind him and watch from the door, just to make sure he doesn't squish her. After nap time today, we played around in her crib and had some fun. How cute are they....?
The volleyball was a gift from my mom at my baby shower because I played volleyball most of my life and it also consumed my mom's life. She always said that the day I had a little girl, she was going to give her a volleyball so that she can put her through everything I put my poor mom through. Thanks MOM!!!

Costco here we come.....

Our first trip to Costco and I could FINALLY put both kids in the front of the cart. Now that Olivia has started sitting up so well, I no longer have to carry her around in the Bjorn (which hurts my back after an hour or so of shopping). Cole was not too excited about sharing the front seat with her, but after I started giving him the samples, he forgot all about it.

Note: The photo was appropriately taken in front of the alcohol section :-)
