On the road again....

As many of you know, we took a long trip to Southern California from June 11 - June 23rd managing to stay in 5 different places over the course of 13 days. We pretty much covered all of Southern California from San Diego to Bakersfield, and managed to get in visits with all of our family and many great friends. The main reason for our trip was because my little borther, Eric got married!!! He and his long term girlfriend, Michelle, tied the knot in a beautiful ceremony in Newport Beach on June 13th. It was an absolutely prefect wedding and we had such a great time visiting with friends and family. We were all in the wedding (with the exception of Olivia) and had a blast celebrating with everyone. Cole was the ringbearer and managed to "kinda sorta" walk down the isle; Jim was a groomsmen and I was a bridesmaid. There are more pictures than I could ever possibly post but here are some of my favorites.

A little milestone for Olivia (at least we are hoping!). She started going #2 on the potty during the vacation and we haven't had to change a dirty diaper since!! She is too young to tell us (and we are working on the sign language) but the moment she starts making that "face" we tear of her diaper and put her on the potty. So far we have gone 2 weeks and have had 100% success. I just had to take a picture because I thought she looked so cute sitting there! (In case you are wondering, this picture was taken in the hotel bathroom, hence the "colorful" wallpaper in the background.)

After the wedding, we stayed with Jim's parents in Orange County and Cole enjoyed going to the park with Nanna and Nannu as well as the swimming pool with his daddy. Cole spent a TON of time in the pool/jacuzzi's during our trip and started swimming really well. During our stay in OC, we were able to meet up with our college friends, the Sullivans, as well as their little boy Brennan. Cole and Brennan are exactly 6 months to the day apart. Here are some of the boys playing at the Irvine Spectrum and enjoying the carousel with their daddies.

Some cute pictures of Olivia with the Meyer Family.......

Jim's parents also treated us to a day at Legoland and we had a fun time. We lived in San Diego for 10 years but had never been to Legoland before. Cole had a blast and is still talking about it. The poor kid got so exhausted from all of the excitement and walking around the park that he literally feel asleep mid-flight on the helicopter ride. It was so cute. I wish we could have taken a picture but my camera and cell phone were both sitting in the stroller with Nanna :-( We are looking forward to going back again when he is a little older (and hopefully a little taller) and able to go on more of the rides.

So after a busy couple of days in Orange County we drove to my dad's house after Legoland and stayed with him for a couple of days. The big hit at Grandpa's house was his "racuzzi" (a.k.a jacuzzi) but that is what Cole calls it. He just LOVED it and spent every night in there jumping around, wearing his "googles" and trying to swim. We spent 3 nights in San Diego and spent one of the days at Sea World. I have always loved Sea World and I really enjoyed going with my family. Cole was in awe with most of the shows. Oh to see the world through a childs eyes is so amazing and precious! It was the first time he had seen most of these type of animals and he did't know what to think. He is still talking about the big "shark" (a.k.a = Shamu!). We had a great day at SW with my dad and the weather was just perfect.

After our 3 days in San Diego, Jim and I parted ways for a few days. He took the train up to LA to meet up with his good friend Steve and go to Catalina Island for their annual "Man trip" and spear fishing adventures. I set off with the kids to Lake Arrowhead to spend some time with my mom. We got to Arrowhead on Friday afternoon and headed over to the village for the "Market Night." We got to spend some time walking around, checking out the stores, buying fresh vegetables and looking at the beautiful lake. I ended up buying Olivia the cutest Fourth of July tutu (red, white, and blue) for her to wear during our neighborhood parade. (more pictures to come of this). It is so stinking cute, I just love it.

On Saturday, my mom and I took the kids to the art and wine festival at tavern bay. Unfortunately the weather took a turn for the worse and it was cold and windy. I was freezing. Cole fell asleep on the way over and pretty much slept in the stroller the whole time we were there and we bundled Olivia up and tried to keep her warm. It was too bad the weather was so bad because it would have been a great afternoon After the festival we promised Cole we would take him over to the pool to test out his new googles and floaties (a little present from Grandma). He spent most of the time in the "racuzzi" because it was so cold outside, but he was able to convince Grandma to jump in the pool with him a few times to "cool off" from the hot water in the jacuzzi. He had sooooo much fun playing in the water!! Cole became obsessed with his new googles and floaties and wore them pretty much the entire weekend. Here he is in the car getting ready to swim as well a shot of him in the jacuzzi with Grandma.

On Saturday night, our good family friends whom we have known FOREVER, the Drozds invited us all over for dinner. Cole fell in love with "Uncle Bernie" and had the best time playing with him. Bernie gave him pony rides all night on his leg and even gave Cole his very first glass. Cole was so happy to have his very own glass and the more he drank, the happier he became :-)

He is STILL talking about Uncle Bernie :-)

We left Arrowhead on Monday afternoon and I drove to LA to pick up Jim from his adventures in Catalina. He had a fun time fishing but unfortunately their boat was late so we didn't end up leaving LA until almost 8:00 on Monday night. We made it as far as Bakerskfield and spent the night there in a hotel and did the rest of the drive on Tuesday. It was nice breaking the drive up into two days, but either way you cut it, those kids hate the drive. We were glad to get home and sleep in our own beds, but overall, we had a great time!! And after all of my complaining about the "cold" 68 degree temperature in So. Cal, we have now come home to 106-110 degrees in North Cal. UUGGHHH. Maybe next time I won't complain as much :-)

Buca di Pepo with our playgroup

A few weeks ago, our play group organized a pizza making party at the restaruant, Buca di Pepo. We went early in the morning, before the lunch crowd came in and the kids all got a tour of the kitchen, and the opportunity to make their own pizzas! Everything was provided for the kids and they had a fun time creating their own pizzas, with piles of cheese and pepporonis! While they were cooking the pizzas, they gave the kids a tour, served them lemonade and brought them coloring books. Afterwards, we all got to enjoy the pizza. What a fun day :-)

A visit from Nanna and Nannu

Jim's parents were generous enough to drive up to visit us from Orange County, while I was gone for the Bachelorette party, so that they could help Jim watch the kids and spend some time with the kiddos. Cole and Olivia had a great time visiting with their Nanna and Nannu and we enjoyed having their company. After I got back from my trip, they stayed for another week and watched them, which gave me the freedom to go for some much needed runs, a night out with Jim, and the ability to go to Target and the grocery store, without two kids in tow! What a treat for me!! Oh how I wish we had family in town :-(

We had a fun visit with them and Cole and Olivia are both looking forward to seeing them again soon.
Thank you Nanna and Nannu!

Here are a few pictures from their visit.....

Goodbye Brown family :-(

As many of you know, we moved about a year ago into a new neighborhood and just love it here. We have met some amazing people and made some great new friends (for both us and the kids). Our friends, Michael and Leslie Brown, live right across the street from us and have 2 beautiful little girls, Bailey (4) and Sydney (18 mos) and we have had SO much fun hanging out with them. Everything from date nights, to family dinners, and lots of afternoon play dates to fill the sometimes long days. Michael is a CHP officer and was recently promoted, which meant a move for the Brown family to Southern California (so sad!). While we will miss them dearly, I know we will always keep in touch. Here is a picture of us on one of our last date nights before they left....another fun night at Crush 29, one of the local restaurants here. We will miss you Brown family!!!
