Tia and Alec come to visit!

Two weekends ago, my sister, Kristen and her son, Alec, came up to visit us for a few days. We had such a great visit and it was so much fun seeing the kids all starting to play together. Up until this trip, most of our visits seem to be scheduled around naps and feedings between the 3 kids, but for the first time in awhile, we were actually able to get out and have some FUN! We picked them up at the airport on Saturday and took them to Fairytale Land in Sacramento. This has become Cole's favorite hang out lately and I thought it would be a fun place for Alec to run around after being stuck on an airplane. Saturday night we enjoyed some yummy cocktails which ended up preventing us from going out to eat (ordered pizza instead!) followed by a glass of wine at Crush 29, after all the kiddos were bathed and asleep. Sunday we took them to the Fountains and did some fun shopping. The weather was perfect as well. We actually had our first taste of fall and some actual raindrops. Unfortunately, that only lasted about 2 days and now we are back in the triple digits :-( Thanks for making the trip up here Kristen and Alec!

The kids all enjoying their meals

The boys with their hair all done and ready to go out!

Here we all are at the Fountains

After bath time, the kids all ran around naked and wrestled which was the funniest thing to see. Unfortunately the boys pictures were slightly "X rated" so they won't be posted on the blog. Olivia's is PG-13, so she made the cut :-)

Here we are enjoying our handmade strawberry/basil martini's (straight from the garden) and compliments of my husband

After a few martini's I somehow ended up with an umbrella in my hand.

Labor Day weekend

For labor day weekend, the Meyer family took our 3rd annual trip to Stinson Beach/Muir Woods (has it really already been 3 years since we moved up here????). We drove down on Saturday morning and took Cole and Olivia to the beach. Unfortunately for us, the weather wasn't so great this year. For all you southern california followers, it was a cool 59 degress at the beach. Yikes! Of course, the kids didn't seem to care, although Cole wouldn't step foot in the water and Olivia was too little. But, the kids did have a great time playing in the sand and building sand castles with daddy and the highlight of the day was that Cole FINALLY got to fly his new kite and daddy did a great job of keeping it up in the sky. Olivia had a great time eating sand and rubbing it in her eyes every 2 seconds (so annoying!). After a day at the beach, we headed back to the hotel so that Cole could get some swimming in at the pool. On Sunday, we went to Muir Woods to see the Redwoods, which were just amazing and Cole did such a great job of hiking with us (Olivia was in the backpack and also did a good job!!) All in all, the weekend was a lot of work trying to watch the kids, but we had fun creating some great family memories.

Our trip in September 2007: Just the three of us:-)

Our trip in September 2008: I was 8 months pregnant with Olivia and not feeling up for the hiking, so we opted for the discovery bay musuem in SF instead of Muir Woods.

Our trip in September 2009: The four of us!!!

Cole was thinking he was going to get to ride in the backpack. Wrong!

Cole was sooooooo excited to fly the kite!

Giving himself a "thumbs up" about his kite

Meanwhile, Olivia was enjoying the rest of daddy's beer

Family weekend in San Francisco

As you can see, we've taken lots of trips to SF this summer! I guess that is what you do up here to escape the heat in the summertime. We headed down to San Francisco in early August just for the weekend and some good family fun. Cole gets the biggest kick out of staying at hotels and he lives for the pool. The weather was actually really really cold and it was nice a break from the triple digits in Sac town.

Olivia's first time at the beach and she LOVED the sand

River Cat's Game

Our neighbors, the Cukjati's, invited us to our first ever River Cat's game. The kids had a blast and now everytime Cole sees a baseball field on T.V., he says,"hey mommy, we were there!". We enjoyed some yummy hot dogs followed by frozen yogurt and Jim treated the boys to some new baseball helmets. Thanks for a fun night!

Mommy's trip to San Francisco

In August, seven of my friends from our play group took a trip to San Francisco for the night! It was my first offical trip to the city for a night out on the town without the kids. We had a great time shopping, eating, getting our make up done and just relaxing with the ladies. We were able to go out to a nice dinner and of course, a few cocktails were enjoyed by all.
