Grandma comes to visit (7/15 - 7/21)

Last week my mom flew up to stay with us for a few days so Jim and I could finally enjoy our Christmas present from her. She gave us a night away and free babysitting for the weekend!! Jim and I decided to celebrate our 5 year anniversary a little early and stay in Napa for the weekend. She flew up a few days early so that I could get to spend some time with her before we left on our trip. We had a fun time going for walks in the morning, taking the kids to the swimming pool and of course, getting in some good shopping time. It was so HOT the week she came up and my mom is not a fan of the heat!! The kids had a great time with her and I of course, loved having the extra help. Jim was out of town most of the week, so it was nice she was able to keep me company. Thank you mom for coming up and watching the kids for us (they are alot of work, I know!) and for a wonderful weekend in Napa!!
Unfortunately I didn't take many pictures while she was up here, but here are some of our time at the pool. Cole LOVED swimming with Grandma!

Happy Birthday to us!!

In June, I turned the big "32" and in July, Jim turned the big "33". We've been so busy lately and out of town so much (and daddy has been so busy working!!) that we just took it easy this year. No big birthday celebrations, but some good old family fun. My birthday fell on a Monday this year, so we celebrated it the day before on Sunday. We took the kids swimming and then Jim BBQ'd one of my favorite meals....RIBS, followed by a delicious ice cream cake from Coldstones. The day of my birthday I told Jim that I was refusing to cook/clean so he and the kids took me out to eat at "Johnny Garlics," where I got to enjoy my second cake....junior mint ice cream cake and open my presents. Thank you all for a wonderful day. I love you guys and I am so lucky to have you in my life!

Me and my little guy :-)

Jim's birthday fell on a Thursday and he had a very hectic week with work and was out of town most of the week. He was able to make it home the night before his birthday, so we took him out to dinner and my mom baked him one of his favorite desserts, homemade bananna cream pie. He loved it, thank you mom! The only problem was that he is the only one that likes banana cream pie (both me and my mom hate pies) so he had the entire pie to himself. Here are some cute pictures of him with the kids, opening up his presents and eating his pie. He got a "Flip" video recorder and a new wii!

Jim giving Cole a "thank you" kiss.

Jim giving little Miss O her kiss.

Jim enjoying his pie all to himself. We let him eat right from the pan since he was the only one eating.

We LOVE you daddy!!

Our visit to the Roseville Fire Department

A few weeks ago I took the kids to the local fire department with our PG for our second annual visit. Cole was much more excited about meeting the firemen and checking out the truck this year. They gave us a tour of their station, let the kids test out the hose and also let them check out the firetruck and even sit in it.
At the end they were all given a sticker and a fire hat, which they both really enjoyed!

Happy Fourth of July

This year we celebrated our Fourth of July with the annual neighborhood block party. Last year was the first year we participated since we were new to the neighborhood, and we had such a fun time that we were all really looking forward to this years celebration. The best part about the entire day is that we don't have to go anywhere!! I feel like we are always on the go for every holliday and it's nice to just be able to park it here and let the celebration come to us. We were lucky with the weather and it wasn't too hot (high 90's) so the kids could play around outside without melting. Unfortunately Olivia came down with something a few days before and had been running a very high fever, so she slept most of the day, but was able to make it out for some fun and some pictures.
The parents organized a parade in the morning and helped the kids decorate their bikes, powerwheels, strollers etc.. Then we played music and had the kids parade around the street. We dressed Cole up as "Uncle Sam" and Olivia got to wear her new tutu I had bought when I was up in Lake Arrowhead visiting my mom.

In the afternoon we enjoyed a great BBQ followed by some fun fireworks. Cole was not a big fan of the fireworks, until his buddy, Enrico assured him that if he covered his ears, it wasn't so bad. Olivia somehow managed to sleep through all of the fireworks and crashed out in the stroller.
