Polar Express

Last night we took the kids to downtown Sacramento to ride the Polar Express! I can't remember why we weren't able to go last year, probably because we already had too much going on, but this year I was bound and determined to get tickets after hearing how much fun it was from all of our friends. It's in old town Sacramento and they decorate about 5 railroad cars and the kids get all dressed up in their pajamas. Once you board the train, you take off for the "North Pole" and as you are heading there they hand out hot chocolate and cookies for everyone, play music, read the story and have actors dressed up from characters in the book. After you get to the North Pole, Santa gets on the train and takes pictures with each kid and gives them a bell to ring. Ironically, after they gave Cole his bell, he kept saying he couldn't hear anything. We were sitting directly below the speakers that were playing music, so Jim and I couldn't really hear anything and everytime he complained that he couldn't hear the bell, we kept telling him, "Yes, you can." Sure enough, once we got back to the station and they turned off the music, the poor kid was given a broken bell! No noise at all :-( We got him another one, which made him much happier and we are just hoping he is still a believer :-)

Olivia loved ringing the bells.

Check out the look on his face. He just kept saying, "My bell isn't ringing, my bell isn't ringing." And we were like "YES it is!" Poor kid.

MUCH, MUCH happier with a bell that actually works!

Now for the trip back home. Olivia fast asleep dreaming of her visit with Santa.

Cole still ringing his bell.
